Dengue fever is an acute infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus, capable of causing outbreaks, and currently, there is no specific treatment available. Previously, Vietnam did not have a dengue fever vaccine. However, the Qdenga dengue vaccine, manufactured by Takeda (Japan) in Germany and approved by the Ministry of Health, is now available at the American International Hospital (AIH).
► Effectiveness of the Qdenga Vaccine
- Qdenga is a tetravalent live-attenuated vaccine designed to protect against all four serotypes of the Dengue virus (DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4). It can reduce the risk of contracting dengue fever by up to 80% and decrease the risk of hospitalization due to dengue fever by up to 90%.
- Vaccination with Qdenga is an advanced measure that complements vector control efforts, such as eliminating mosquito larvae and maintaining a clean environment. It significantly contributes to controlling the impact of dengue fever on public health.
► Eligibility for Qdenga Vaccination
- The Qdenga vaccine is indicated for the prevention of dengue fever caused by all four serotypes of the Dengue virus (DEN-V).
- It is approved for use in children aged 4 years and older and adults, regardless of prior dengue infection history.
- The recommended dosage is 0.5ml per injection, administered in a 2-dose schedule (at 0 and 3 months).
