HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE (HYPERTENSION)

High blood pressure or hypertension is considered as “ silent killer”, rarely has noticeable symptoms. But if untreated, it increases your risk of serious problems such as heart attacks, strokes, renal failure.
 
Blood pressure is the pressure of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries. Arteries carry blood from your heart to other parts of your body. Hypertension is defined as blood pressure consistently ranging at 130/80 mmHg or higher. It is ideal to measure your blood pressure after waking up in the morning.

If your blood pressure is too high, it puts extra strain on your blood vessels, heart and other organs, such as the brain, kidneys and eyes.
 
Many people believe that high blood pressure is very common in older people, but now the rate of high blood pressure tends to increase gradually in young people (under 35 years old).
 
Risk factor of high blood pressure
 
  • Over the age of 65
  • Overweight, obesity and metabolism disorder and elevated LDL cholesterol,Diabetes ...
  • Familial history :Have a relative with high blood pressure
  • Eat too much salt and do not eat enough fruit and vegetables
  • Drink too much alcohol, smoke
  • Lack of physical activity.
  • Anxiety ,Stress

Symptoms of hypertension
 
Generally, people with hypertension may experience headaches, dizziness, fatigue, blurred vision, tinnitus, blushing, etc.
 
Treatment for high blood pressure
 
Lifestyle changes to reduce blood pressure.
These lifestyle changes can help prevent and lower high blood pressure:
 
  • Low salt  and have a  healthy diet
  • Stop drinking
  • Lose weight if you're overweight
  • Exercise regularly
  • Stop smoking.
In case blood pressure from130/80 mmHg, hypertension treatment will be given.

Common blood pressure treatment include:
 
  • Diuretics 
  • Beta blockers 
  • Calcium channel blockers 
  • ACE inhibitors 
  • Angiotensin-2 receptor blockers (ARBs) 
  • Alpha blockers 

To detect hypertension:
 
  • Regularly monitor your blood pressure at home. Blood pressure should be measured  3 times a week.
  • Have regular health check-up for early detection of hypertension and related pathological conditions.
