“TIPS” TO EASILY TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO BATH

“TIPS” TO EASILY TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO BATH

24/12/2021

For some children, bathing is an unpleasant experience. It could be because the change in temperature makes the child feel uncomfortable or simply because the child does not like the feeling of lying in the bathtub... Whatever the reason is that the child hates bathing, it's confusing every time you take your child to the bathroom.

Here are some "tricks" that parents should refer to to help their children bathe more easily!

To prepare for an "ideal" bath for your child, parents should:

► For newborns:

  • Prepare a separate bathtub for children.
  • Make sure the water temperature is close to body temperature.
  • Maintain eye contact with the child.
  • Talk to children about what parents are about to do during bath time.

► For toddlers or older children:

  • Initially, parents should let their children sit in a basin containing no water and give them a sponge bath. Once your child is more comfortable, add a little water to the bathtub and slowly increase the amount of water.
  • Equipped with anti-slip mats so children don't have to worry about falling while bathing.
  • Some children may be afraid of large bathtubs. Therefore, parents should place the baby bathtub inside the large bathtub for a while until the child gets used to this.
  • Parents can bathe with their children, letting the child sit between their legs or on their lap so that the child feels safe while bathing.
  • If the child is afraid of the sound of water going down the drain, after bathing, parents should take the child to the bathroom first and then pour out the water in the bathtub or pull out the water retainer from the large bathtub.
  • If your child is afraid of bathing because of soap running into their eyes or ears, you should be more careful when bathing them and should only use products that do not irritate the eyes specifically for children.
  • Try changing the bath time during the day. Some children prefer to bathe in the morning, when they are not tired and cranky.

Besides, to make baby's bath time more enjoyable, Parents can:

  • Buy special toys just for bath time.
  • Let your child bathe with his siblings.
  • Sing, read stories and play games while your child bathes.
  • If your child is old enough, you can choose a soft towel with a special color to use exclusively during your child's bath time.

Try applying these tips to make bath time a fun time for both parents and children!

Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology, American International Hospital provides a full range of Pediatric medical examination and treatment services, including: General health check-up; vaccination; monitor children's physical and mental development; nutritional consulting and disease diagnosis and treatment services.

The Pediatric examination area at AIH is divided into 2 separate areas: an area for healthy children and an area for sick children, with the purpose of separating patients to avoid cross-infection. When a child comes to the hospital with symptoms suspected of having the disease, he or she will be taken to a separate examination area, so the disease can be triaged and isolated from the beginning.
