3. Diseases caused by alcohol, tobacco
Tobacco causes many types of cancers such as lung cancer, myocardial infarction, emphysema, chronic cor pulmonale, peripheral blood vessel occlusion … which are extremely dangerous for your health and life. Additionally, excessive alcohol consumption causes hepatic steatosis. In initial stage of this disease, it is still curable if alcohol drinking completely ceased. However, if alcohol consumption is still continued, hepatic steatosis will progress in cirrhosis – a chronic condition. Hence, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption are not advised.
4. Diabetes
A disease in which the body resist or produce not enough insulin – a hormone that helps to metabolize energy from eaten food and distribute to the body cells. When this metabolism is not occurred, the glucose level is elevated in your bloodstream that possibly result in complications including kidney disease, heart disease or blindness. Risk of diabetes normally increases after 45 years of age.
In order to prevent and manage diabetes, you should keep your daily activity in balance:
- Have a healthy diet , included tracking carbohydrate and calorie intakes
- Perform physical exercise 30minutes/ time x 5 times/week in order to control blood sugar level and appropriate weight gain
- Reduce 5 – 7 % body weight safely if you are diagnosed with diabetes
5. Ischemic heart disease ( Coronary artery disease)
This disease is caused by the build up of plaques narrowing the arteries flow to the heart. Aterial occlusion and stenosis decrease oxygenated blood circulation to the heart and can cause other complications such as blood clotting, chest pain or heart attack. There are some routine habits that you can combine to prevent this disease, including:
- Limit saturated fat and trans fat consumptions, combine with low sugar and salt diet
