The American International Hospital & Johns Hopkins Medicine International: Strengthening collaboration for premium healthcare
The ongoing collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine International will help the American International Hospital (AIH) continue to standardize service quality, improve clinical quality, and enhance the healthcare experience for patients.
Continuous improvement to enhance healthcare quality
Ensuring patient safety and optimizing patient experience are always the central mission of the staff and leadership team at the American International Hospital (AIH). The ongoing collaboration with Johns Hopkins Medicine International plays crucial roles in continuously improving its quality, aligning with international development trends as well as adhering to JCI quality standards. As a result, AIH committed to enhancing and sustaining service and clinical quality, ultimately increasing patient satisfaction.
From March 10-12, 2025, experts from Johns Hopkins and AIH conducted a JCI mock survey aimed to improve and standardize service quality, clinical quality, and ensure AIH’s processes align with the updated requirements of JCI for 2025. One of the major changes, besides the criteria of patient-centered care and patient safety being prioritized, includes new chapters such as: Global Health Impact (GHI), focusing on environmental sustainability in healthcare organizations; Healthcare Technology (HCT), which assesses the capacity for remote healthcare, the application of artificial intelligence (AI), and advances in medical equipment to support clinical decision-making and patient care. Additionally, the new standards emphasize the protection and enhancement of mental health for healthcare staff.

In addition, both sides have exchanged and shared knowledge and practical experience, updating advanced medical knowledge to ensure that the practices at AIH align with the JCI 2025 standards.

Ms. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hạnh – Quality Management Director at AIH shared: “To meet the new criteria of the JCI 8th Edition (2025), we have continuously practiced, maintained internal audits, and conducted comprehensive mock assessments. This has allowed us to standardize service quality, enhance clinical quality, and ensure safety in medical care. Through these practice sessions with the support of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, AIH can continue to improve and refine its quality to meet the stringent requirements of the standards.”
Sharing about the collaboration, Ms. Judy M. Lee – Medical Director for Quality Safety and Director of Global Service at Johns Hopkins Medicine International, said: “The ultimate goal of JCI standards is to provide safe healthcare services for patients, preventing risks during care and treatment. With this collaboration, Johns Hopkins experts will work closely with AIH, focusing on key criteria such as patient quality and safety, safe medication management, infection prevention and control, while also emphasizing the changes in the JCI standards, bringing positive improvements to processes and quality assessments at AIH.”
Preparing for the JCI 2025 assessment
Having been honored with the JCI certification for the first time in November 2022, the American International Hospital (AIH) has continuously worked to improve service quality, strictly following the JCI standards across all aspects of patient care and hospital management.

Moreover, AIH has strengthened its collaboration with leading healthcare organizations, including a comprehensive strategic partnership with Raffles Medical Group (Singapore) and knowledge transfer cooperation with Johns Hopkins Medicine International. These collaborations enable AIH to integrated advanced global care processes, enhance clinical quality, standardize service quality, and provide patients and their families with a comprehensive healthcare experience that meets international standards.
The entire team of doctors and staff at AIH is actively and continuously working to enhance their professional capabilities, confidently adapting to new challenges, and preparing for the JCI 2025 assessment. They are united in their pursuit of a second JCI certification, the prestigious “gold seal” of global healthcare quality.
With Johns Hopkins Medicine’s strength as a world-leading healthcare system in clinical research and training with over 100 years of experience, Johns Hopkins Medicine International — the global division of Johns Hopkins Medicine — will continue to accompany the American International Hospital (AIH) in organizing international scientific seminars in the near future. These events will provide opportunities for learning and exchanging new treatment methods. Through this program, not only will it enhance the professional knowledge of AIH’s medical staff, but it will also promote innovation in healthcare, contributing to the improvement of medical quality and supporting the sustainable development of the healthcare sector in Vietnam.
